Let’s try our luck at making a Four-Leaf Clover for St. Patrick’s Day!

Have you wanted to try blacksmithing and metalwork, but didn’t know where to start or who to ask? Never swung a hammer or hit hot metal, but are fascinated by watching metalworkers at work? Been to a blacksmithing class and want to learn more? Then…. Join us March 6, 2021 for our Introduction to Blacksmithing class at the Banton-Smith Center for Blacksmith & Metal Arts. In this class we’ll explore techniques for chiseling, forming, and shaping sheet metal cut-outs into decorative and practical items such as a key chain, a bowl or dish, a trivet, or a decorative wall hanging.

Working with metal requires some precautions – substantial, closed-toed shoes are required. Cotton, wool, or other non-synthetic clothing is preferred – things like nylon or fleece can melt and stick to skin. Lightweight gloves are optional, we’ll teach ways to work with the metal that shouldn’t need gloves. Eye and Ear protection are required – we can provide it for $5.00 or you can bring your own.

Minimum age 18 (no exceptions please). No refunds unless class is cancelled due to covid-19 or instructor availability

If you are buying a ticket for someone else, please let us know who will attend the class and provide contact information so we can best tailor the instruction for the class make-up.

Bring your own lunch. We will take a mid-class break. We will have water.
